As a girl, Lizzy recognized her pack among her brother's best friends. Many times she tried to tell them, but they laughed, teased, and ignored her. Rejected, she begins to grow ill and morose. Sent to a boarding school to finish training as an Omega, she dates pack after pack trying to find a way past her rejection. When her brother and friends join a pack together, she is devastating. When her brother's friends finally realize Lizzy belongs with them, they must contend with her brother.
This is the second book set in the Knotty Pines universe. I was extremely happy to receive the sequel and delighted with the story. I absolutely love this author's writing style, character development, and plot. I look forward to reading more novels from her!
"Catch Me" by Sirena Song
Sadie's parents have everything planned for her. She will marry a wealthy and influential pack, she will be a prim and proper young lady, and she will do as she's told. As her first heat approaches, she begins chaffing and the restrictions her parents and society has placed upon her. When she receives a birthday card from an Aunt she didn't know existed, she travels to Knotty Pines to meet her. Along the way she meets and is intrigued by a number of men.
Wow. Just wow! I didn't know anything about the omegaverse before picking up this book. Let's just say I was intrigued by the premise of the world. I found myself quickly drawn to the characters and wanting to know more. I will definitely be picking up more books by this author. 5 out of 5 stars!
"Montana Bride" by Joan Johnston
When Hettie's wagon is attacked by Indians, she is left alone to die. Fortunately, another wagon stops and Bao, a Chinese man, nurses her back to health. Quickly she learns that the women and her children traveling with the Chinese man are intended to be a mail-order bride/family for Karl. When the woman dies, Hettie takes on the children herself, pretending to be the bride Karl is expecting.
Overall I thought this was an OK book. The characters seemed a bit stereotypical. Every time the author switched points of view, she repeated the same information that she gave before, i.e. Karl is insecure about his looks, Hettie is upset about her previous flitting. If the author had cut out the repetitiveness, the book would have been half as long!
"Almost a Scandal" by Elizabeth Essex
I'm not a huge romance fan. But I was intrigued by the idea of a woman masquerading as a man in order to join the British Navy. I was caught by her personality and force of will. I was a bit bored by the tension between her and Col, but I think a fan of romance will highly enjoy. It is a fun blend of action and adventure yet doesn't neglect the romance.
"Taken Hostage" by Ranae Rose
Tiffany is taken hostage after the bank she works at is robbed. Immediately she is attracted to the "hot gunman" and agrees to join his life of crime. I was a bit disappointed in this book. Although the sex/romantic scenes were steamy rather than sleazy, I just didn't like Tiffany. I found her to be shallow and one-dimensional. Overall, the story wasn't a bit believable, which took away from the plot.
